Hello and Welcome to the official blog of Joaquin “Nico” Roibal! I created this one to centralize my online activity and a place for me to share my daily thoughts. An additional goal is to promote a book, my memoirs, which I wrote during NaNoWriMo 2019 that I am editing and will be publishing as an e-book. This blog will track my journey into the publishing world.
My hobbies include stand-up comedy, where I perform multiple times per week at open mics and I have began to produce my own shows. Until May of this year, I was very sick with gall stones and I have been doing much better since having my gall bladder removed. I turned 32 this year, which is an interesting year because I have begun the slow and steady transition to becoming “old”.
I am originally from Albuquerque, NM and I grew up in Northern NM / Southern CO, hunting, hiking and fishing. My mom would drop me off at the river in the morning and pick me up after dark. I have many great memories during this time, with my stepdad Paul, my mom and my sister, which helped me to gain the perspective on life which I have today.
In May 2017, I graduated with a Master’s of Science degree in Mining Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. During my graduate and undergraduate coursework, I learned about mining and visited open-pit and underground mining operations. As an undergraduate, I served as Student Association President for one full term and played Intercollegiate Division I Rugby Football with the New Mexico Tech Pygmies.
After graduation, I moved back to Albuquerque, NM where I started working in Real Estate, created a successful YouTube channel about trading cryptocurrency, and wrote a book / began performing stand up comedy.
I produced my first comedy show, “NM Comedians Care About NM Kids” comedy show and toy drive.
Additionally, due to the technical skills of Angel Lopez, we were able to record the entire show which is now available as “Niko’s 505 Comedy Mixtape Vol 1: A Very Albuquerque Christmas” on Soundcloud.
I look forward to connecting with fellow Authors and philosophers, learning, writing, and publishing my memoirs in 2020.
